Experience as the general manager of a restaurant/cafe, including significant front of house experience, is highly preferred.
The Café Manager oversees all café operations at a single location supporting Grand Central Bakery’s mission to serve our customers delicious, authentic food made from high quality local and sustainable ingredients. The Café Manager is key to developing the people, process, and accountability to help GCB cafés thrive. The ideal candidate inspires and motivates café team members to provide exceptional products and outstanding customer service.
The Café Manager is directly responsible for all café facilities, budgeting, and maintaining employee morale within the parameters of Grand Central’s mission and financial goals.
Location: 1607 N 45th St., Seattle, WA 98103
Rate of Pay: $67,095 annual salary
Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week, weekends required. Scheduling flexibility is required including holidays.
Responsibilities and Duties

Maintains cafés by creating a warm and welcoming café experience and ensuring that displays and merchandising meet all standards
Communicates to staff our brand promise to be the best part of our customer’s day and inspires the skills and passion to deliver on it
Understands and communicates key financial metrics and parameters as appropriate to the team
Enforces company policies and procedures; completes tasks (e.g., terminations, QSI’s, trainings) in a timely manner and trains café leadership team to do the same
Understands and communicates safety principles and goals to team
Is highly knowledgeable about all menu items, is proficient at all café stations, and is able to serve all products according to GCB specs – including during a rush
Act as the main expert, coach, and trainer for all café systems including: Scheduling, ChefTec, Vendor ordering, Payroll, ApplicantPro, Revel, and MS Office
Regularly work all café positions to serve as the main expert, coach, and trainer
Act as primary contact and support to the café team throughout the employee life cycle
Clearly and accurately act as a conduit for the positive, constructive flow of information between upper management and the retail crew

Qualifications and Skills

Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to read, write, and speak English required; English/Spanish bilingual preferred
Maintains food handler’s card – new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of work
Knowledge of all health department regulations concerning food service required
Experience coaching, training, and mentoring teams required
3 or more years’ experience managing in a restaurant environment; fast casual experience preferred
A passion for delicious food and exceptional customer service
Enthusiasm for and experience with developing employees
Basic technical literacy including knowledge of Excel, Word, email, and the ability to learn new ordering and inventory systems
Experience and expertise in all floor positions: customer service, barista, and sandwich production (pastry production experience a plus)
