Job Description Summary:

The Clinical Educator is responsible for providing educational support and assistance to clinical staff based on employee and agency needs. The Clinical Educator will be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of nursing and clinical education from basic to advanced practice levels. Clinical Educator will work collaboratively with Clinical Leadership to enhance the quality of patient care. This is a salaried position. The Clinical Educator will participate in the clinical administrator on-call rotation for one week every three weeks.

Pursuant to Washington State/CMS requirements, this position requires COVID-19 vaccination.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

Develop, implement, deliver, coordinate, and evaluate educational programs to ensure caregivers demonstrate excellent clinical performance, professional development, and knowledge about hospice care to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and agency-specific requirements.

Collaborate with the Human Resources Department and Clinical Supervisor to coordinate orientation and mentoring of new clinical and non-clinical staff members.

Direct and coordinate mandatory educational activities in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and Clinical Supervisor.

Identify, lead and/or participate in performance improvement projects that can be addressed with educational solutions.

Deliver training programs through various methods and approaches such as in-person presentations and in-services, webinars, periodic skill fairs and demonstrations, both to internal and external audiences.

Assesses health needs of community and assists in the development of plan(s)/ program(s) to meet needs. Participates in public relation and community activities that promote the organization’s role as an effective member of the hospice and health care delivery system. Promotes customer service orientation to all hospice personnel.

Collaborates with nursing supervisors to provide a process to promote and ensure employee orientation, competency and in-service education programs. Assists in the identification of skills for annual competency and provides in-service training support.

Participates in the monthly meetings of the organization’s quality assessment performance improvement (QAPI) program.

Obtains and maintains extensive knowledge of organization’s chosen EMR system.

Position Qualifications

Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state.

Maintains a current CPR certification.

Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order.

Minimum of two years experience, at lease one of which is in the area of public health, home care, or hospice nursing is preferred.

Self directed and able to work with minimal supervision.

Demonstrates excellent observation, problem solving, verbal and written communications; nursing skills per competency checklist.

Shows ability to organize and prioritize workload independently.

Prolonged or considerable walking or standing. Able to lift, position, and/or transfer patients. Able to lift supplies and equipment. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and/or crouching. Visual acuity and hearing to perform required nursing skills.
