The Highline Teaching, Learning, and Leadership department is seeking a Data Literacy Specialist to join their team for the 2022-2023 school year, 1 year contract.

The Data Literacy Specialist will support and facilitate schools to build capacity in data-informed decision making. This position is responsible for supporting the collection, analysis, interpretation and planning around data to support the acceleration of student learning in both academics and social emotional learning. This will include routine meetings and professional development with central office and school-based staff .

Roles and Responsibilities

Work closely with Data and Assessment and central office teams
Support schools with formative data collection, analysis and planning to support acceleration of learning
Support use of data dashboards to progress monitor and identify areas for improvement
Train and model effective data use and interpretation, aligned to Annual Action Plans (AAP) goals that will build and foster a culture of data literacy
Work with school-based instructional teams during PLCs to support use of formative data to plan instructional strategies and support
Provide ongoing input and school-based perspective to Data Analysts for ongoing improvement and development of dashboards
Contribute to building and training support for a newly designed strength-based data system
Work with district and school teams in organizing and facilitating data-led meetings in a collaborative inquiry process utilizing formative and benchmark data
Meet regularly with school leadership to determine school needs around data, aligned to AAP metrics
Coordinate and provide on-going staff development opportunities at the district and school levels
Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
Facilitate data meetings with teachers as they analyze and make data driven decisions to impact student achievement with formative assessment data and student work
Stay abreast of research based instructional strategies by attending professional development sessions and reading professional educational research.
Performs other related work as required.

A successful candidate will have a proven record of:

Commitment to equity
Skilled collaboration and facilitation
Experience leading teams with data analysis
Experience with data platforms, including Insight and Synergy
Experience in planning and leading professional development for teachers and administrators
Instructional background that clearly connects data to instructional decision-making
Previous experience on school or district leadership teams
