This role supports Weekday Overnights at the Sumner Facility.
This job contributes to REI’s success by serving as an Assistant Manager, Operations overseeing building workload planning and operational production analysis to coordinate building labor and staffing plans. This position is responsible for planning and execution of building initiatives, budgets, and the performance of team operations. In addition, this job requires managing a diverse set of employees and is responsible for providing operational guidance and development for Supervisors, Operations and their direct reports. This job creates, plans, and executes a 1-3 year business plan supporting supply chain projects, key performance indicators, and operational efficiency. This position models and leads expectations for daily operations, considering safety expectations, adequate and appropriate staffing, execution of departmental expenses, and establishes accountability across all levels of employees. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees in order to achieve department, company and customer results.
Establishes and maintains visibility within the department.
Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
Your Planning and Navigating Requirements
Organize, coordinate, and communicate building workload planning to a functional level on a daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal timeline. Apply industry best practices to internal freight movement, partnering with peers to find the most efficient means of realizing production goals.
Provide detailed analysis of production rates at a division, department, and individual level to assist operational supervisors in projecting long term staffing levels.
Coordinate building labor and staffing plans for both the short and long term to include managing temporary employee program, cross training program utilization, and seasonal and annual hiring processes.
Partner with Finance, Merchandising, Retail, and the Global Supply Chain team to project and report on Key Performance Indicators and update building Visual Controls.
Define and develop production-based projects, to include product placement, seasonal space planning, and Warehouse Management System improvements.
Actively coordinates and/or leads Continuous Improvement projects to increase department productivity and cost controls.
Coordinate Promotion and Event planning for the Distribution center operation to include the creation of plans, overall building execution accountability, and post operation lessons learned documentation.
Supervise the Records Clerk employees to meet Company needs; communicates Company policies and procedures; hires, trains and evaluates department employees; forecasts for future staffing and training needs.
Serve as an example to other employees by consistently demonstrating exemplary work habits, which contribute to teamwork, productivity, and efficiency; maintains own current functional knowledge and skills to assist staff with daily workload as needed.
Develop, monitor, and operate within departmental annual payroll, capital and expense budgets.
Maintain ongoing relationships and serve as member on various committees to represent departmental and/or overall Company interests; communicate Company needs and expectations internally or externally; provide review, input, and recommendations as appropriate.
Bring your passion and expertise
3+ years experience in leadership, successfully leading a team of employees.
5+ years experience in Distribution or relevant experience; which includes distribution training or a logistics degree from an accredited college (preferred).
Ability to work a flexible schedule; covering 24/7 operations.
Experience with profit loss responsibility; preferred over $1M in expenses and with multiple operational disciplines.
Ability to understand and communicate variances to operations; which include but are not limited to: finances, productivity, or customer service issues.
2+ years experience developing analytics and production tracking
