POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Association Development Director, and in accordance with the Christian nature and purpose of the YMCA of Greater Louisville, the District Development Director will support the design and implementation of a comprehensive development and engagement program for a specified region, and assist with marketing, social media and communication plans to support it.
The District Development Director will lead work collaboratively, cross-branch and cross-departmentally to build strong boards, strong relationships and develop strategies and approaches to ensure successful fundraising and volunteer and donor engagement.

Qualifications

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in institutional fundraising, Master’s degree preferred

Minimum 3 – 5 years of overall non-profit volunteerism and fundraising experience

Above average skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Publisher.

Able to coordinate and connect key branch communications and marketing into the overall fundraising strategy within the district and association-wide

Entrepreneurial and ethical, highly motivated, and mission oriented

Ability to be a strategic thinker, self-starter, organized, and a highly effective communicator are critical attributes

Sound judgment and decision making as well as problem solving and interpersonal skills to relate to people of all socio-economic levels and diverse backgrounds

Demonstrate sound fiscal management

Ability to work a flexible schedule, particularly evening and weekend hours

Achievement of YMCA Leadership Certification at the appropriate level

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Preferred skills in Raiser’s Edge or other donor database software, Constant Contact and/or Marketing Cloud.

Experience with Social media or on-line fundraising strategies preferred

Essential Functions

KEY FUNCTIONS

Uphold the Mission of the YMCA.

Continue to build and expand a successful annual campaign for specified district to ensure strong philanthropic support of the organization in direct relation to the annual campaign.

Responsible for all aspects of the development cycle for specified region, from prospecting and pipeline development to cultivation, face-to-face solicitation, acknowledgement, and stewardship in conjunction with the Association Development Director.

Oversee Association-wide efforts surrounding the Annual Campaign:

Lead process for development and implementation of strategic Annual Campaign plan.

Develop comprehensive timeline with benchmarks.

Distribute and support the campaign marketing collateral, communication and fundraiser and staff coach training efforts.

Create and executes a strategy for volunteer/board recruitment and engagement through the Campaign in conjunction with Executive Director.

Coach the branch Executive Directors and works closely with their Boards to ensure a successful Campaign.

With the Association Development Director, develop and implement a plan to identify, cultivate and develop major individual donors and corporations, while building prospects of future investors.

With the Association Development Director and district leadership teams, lead and advance year-round volunteer and donor identification, cultivation and stewardship with a focus on growth, relationship building, engagement and volunteer and donor retention.

Responsible for building and coaching a fundraising volunteer cohort for each campaign within assigned district.

Oversee and manage all volunteer and donor data systems and reporting, ensuring all information is accurately captured, tracked and evaluated primarily for the moves management but also for timely communications and gift acknowledgements.

The District Development Director will be responsible for developing strong relationships amongst members, program participants and community members with the goal of building deep ties to the YMCA’s mission.

Coordinate special benefactor events, overseeing all aspects of event execution. This includes maintenance of guest lists, invitations, selection of venues and menus, and general event oversight.

Support board development efforts as it relates to best practices in philanthropy by implementing training sessions around cause and philanthropy during onboarding of new board members in conjunction with Executive Director.

Share in the support of Board Development Committees of the branch board within specified district, ensuring full boards who are strong ambassadors and highly engaged volunteers, donors and fundraisers.

Assist with capital projects, sponsorship support and strategic partnership opportunities as needed.

Assist in preparation and review of budgets in conjunction with the Financial Development department.

Set the standards for and model exceptional member service.

Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.
