SUMMARY: The position of District Safety Officer is an armed position that patrols district property, on foot or in a vehicle, to ensure that buildings and grounds are secure. Responsibilities include setting, monitoring and testing alarm systems; responding to alarms; observing and reporting unlawful. Officers respond to assist staff after hours and maintains safe learning environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of work experience as a police officer, or in a closely related law enforcement field
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a law enforcement academy program
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Security and safety practices and procedures
Fire and intrusion alarm systems
Investigative techniques and reporting procedures
Firearm Safety
Hazardous material handling methods RCWs and WACs that pertain to school safety
