Position : ED Tech Fulltime Nights 7p-7a
1.Performs 12 lead EKG’s 2.Performs phlebotomy for lab testing after completion of class and competency check 3.Maintains knowledge of ED stock and location. Avoid overstocking rooms 4.Ensures all supplies used are documented and charged appropriately 5.Keeps patient/family member informed regarding procedures or reasons for delay 6.Completes and documents hourly rounding according to approved guidelines 7.Answers telephone and direct the call appropriately 8.Obtains vital signs initially, hourly as needed, and at discharge 9.Anticipates the needs of patients, visitors, and ED staff. Shows initiative and self direction to address those 10.Maintains electronic documentation system’s computer skills 11. Maintains up to date BCLS certification 12. Documents all care given, including the pain level with vital signs and PRN 13.Applies/adjusts miscellaneous special devices such as ace wrap, immobilizers, slings, manufactured splints, molded splints and hot/cold packs. 14.Communication
Provides complete verbal report with appropriate information to the RN.
Effectively communicates to other care providers/team member’s necessary information.
Responds to all patient/visitor requests for assistance, information or direction.
Communicates with others in completing work assignments and accomplishing department/unit goals.
Utilizes appropriate channels of communication
Keeps RN thoroughly informed of any sudden changes in patient’s condition.
Recognizes pertinent and individual patient needs
Demonstrates the proper care, use and repair of supplies, equipment and charges.
Keeps patient room and hallways free of clutter.
Disposes of soiled linen in appropriate container.
Keeps nursing station clean and neat.
17.Performs professional responsibilities.
Functions as mentor for new employees.
Relieves Unit Secretary for breaks/lunch upon request.
Requests and accepts constructive criticism.
Accountable for accuracy and completion of all documentation requirements.
Acts as a preceptor when applicable.
Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through appropriate use of resources.
Adheres to unit dress code.
Attends mandatory in-services and at least 75% of monthly unit meetings.
Utilizes only overtime approved by Clinical Leader or Director
18.Maintains up to date Annual Core and Unit Specific Competencies
