DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Emergency Management Mitigation, Insurance and Resilient Communities (MIRC) Office assists survivors of natural disasters through the management of disaster projects. You will meet and support those individuals who have experienced very bad days and do your best to assist them and their affected communities to move on from this dreadful event(s). Through your efforts, they, personally, and as a neighborhood, and community, will become more resilient. Furthermore, should you be selected, would assist our agency in the assurance that these affected folks are better prepared should another event occur again in their local. You will do this through various mitigation project-types such as Home Acquisitions, Home Elevations, Mitigation/Reconstruction, flood proofing and planning to name a few. We try to move those affected survivors out of harms way and on to a more resilient future. You will not find a job more rewarding and satisfying then this opportunity presented before you! Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Will need to work various days/times due to emergency deployments.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, after the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, PA.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency-related programs such as disaster relief, public safety, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military; and a bachelor’s degree; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
