Job Duties/Scope Of Work

Our Environmental, Safety, Health & Quality (ESH&Q) team is seeking an Environmental Protection (EP) Manager who will be a direct report to the Director of ESH&Q and is responsible for the interpretation and implementation of environmental codes, standards, and regulations. The EP Manager provides qualified staff to support safe and compliant work, maintains an interface with the DOE customer and external environmental regulators, and promotes and champions environmental compliance. The EP Manager is also the ESH&Q management representative designated as responsible for the creation, implementation, function, and maintenance of the CPCCo Environmental Management System (EMS).
A day in the life of a Environmental Protection Manager may include the following:
Directs the creation, implementation, function, and maintenance of the EMS and assists with implementation of the ISMS/EMS in the EP organization.
Demonstrates safety ownership through implementation of CPCCo programs and where necessary, develops and maintains EP safety and environmental documents and programs.
Maintains and controls Environmental Protection programmatic budgets and schedules.
Interfaces with DOE and other Hanford contractors to coordinate EP contract obligations, regulatory strategies, programmatic issues, and public involvement.
Defines and communicates CPCCo policy, objectives, performance measures, and management expectations to EP personnel.
Acts as the regulatory point of contact for environmental compliance.
Defines and implements environmental compliance strategies for CPCCo.
Advises and updates senior management on status of environmental issues.
Performs periodic management reviews of environmental activities and functions against organizational goals and commitments and directs actions for continuous improvement.
Plans and prioritizes Environmental Protection activities to ensure appropriate EP resources are available to:
Implement and maintain the Environmental Requirements Management process.
Implement and maintain the CPCCo Environmental Quality Assurance Program Plan.
Plan and perform independent environmental assessments of CPCCo Project and Function activities.
Provide Subject Matter Expert interpretations and implementation guidance to ensure environmental compliance.
Support Hanford Site/CPCCo environmental permitting and regulatory reporting activities.
Support regulatory inspections, including escorting regulators on-site, providing requested information and responding to inspection reports.
Ensure that company and/or facility/project-specific policies and procedures meet applicable environmental requirements.
Reporting directly to the EP Manager are:
Environmental Protection Technical Services Manager
CPCCo Projects’ Environmental Protection Managers
Environmental Management System (EMS) Coordinator
Environmental Compliance & Quality Assurance (ECQA)
Technical and Administrative Support Staff
Basic Qualifications
* BA/BS degree in engineering, environmental science, or other related technical discipline.
12 years of experience in environmental activities, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
U.S. Citizen.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledgeable of environmental regulations and quality assurance requirements and can apply those principles to environmental programs and project work activities.
