OPCO is all about getting the clients out of the house and into the community. Monday through Friday, we support them in making sure they can live their very best lives outside while providing community engagement and job coaching. They look at job and community services opportunities. The ideal candidate should have prior experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the physical ability to lift, transfer, carry, and reposition a person served as needed – up to 50 pounds. The candidate will assist with hand-over-hand techniques when supporting skills, including travel training and essential computer support.
Job Developer
Provides leadership, training, and support to employment specialists relative to job development activities. Provides direct job development services to an assigned caseload. Monitors evaluate and take corrective action to improve all aspects of job development ensuring the quality of service for all involved participants. Cultivates and maintains appropriate relationships within the business community to provide positive networking opportunities with employers, resulting in individuals served to acquire preferred jobs
Essential Functions:
Coordinates the job development activities of all Employment Specialists, ensuring that jobs sought are consistent with desired outcomes per individual’s vocational profile or another similar planning document.
Conducts orientation and ongoing training for Employment Specialists regarding Vocational Profile development, situational assessments, and job development.
Cultivates and maintains appropriate networking sources with the business community to ensure individuals’ preferred employment outcomes are met.
Writes required plans for all individuals enrolled in the Employment Program.
Conducts situational assessments per funder request and forwards required analyses to funders/case managers.
Serves as primary liaison with community providers, support coordinators, residential providers, parents, and interdepartmental services to facilitate the coordination of job development services to the participants as requested, as well as to increase and improve participant involvement.
Provides billable job development activities to assigned individuals ensuring jobs secured are consistent with desired outcomes per individual’s vocational profile or other similar planning documents. Directly oversees the development of vocational profiles for individuals served on caseload. When employment is secured, responsible for all required analyses, training, support, and billing documentation for assigned individuals.
Develops monthly status reports on the individuals served and submits to required parties promptly.
Acquires and maintains current Certified Employment Specialist Professional (CESP) certification.
Acquires and uses basic knowledge of Social Security and other benefits impacted by employment; attends workshops or other training routinely to attain updated information on work and benefits.
Attends and participates in all relevant agency events, workshops, training, and meetings.
Participates in the development of annual program goals and objectives.
Attends and participates in all relevant agency events, workshops, training, and meetings.
Provides oversight to the Employment Program in the absence of the Program Director.
Performs administrative and supervisory tasks as designated by the Program Director.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Four years of work experience in disability services, social work, rehabilitation, or vocational education is required. Experience working in competitive employment with persons with disabilities is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, rehabilitation, psychology, or vocational/special education may be substituted for four years of work experience.
Sales or customer service work experience of one year or more is preferred.
Must meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction current requirements for criminal background/records check.
Valid state-issued driver’s license with a current driving record in good standing required.
Must meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction’s current criminal background/records check requirements.
Valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements. Current CPR, Medication Administration, and MANDT certification preferred.
Shift Differential
Our DSP staff earns shift differentials if required to remain on staff during inclement weather events.
