Description :
The City of Tacoma’s Information Technology Department is seeking a Management Analyst II (Dashboard Analyst) to join their Data and Analytics team. In this role you will apply your knowledge of data visualization to deliver analytical solutions which translate complex data into easily understood business dashboards with compelling, dynamic visuals.
The Data and Analytics team is responsible for enabling departments throughout the City to access and make use of their data. The Management Analyst II (Dashboard Analyst) will work under the direction of the Senior Dashboard Analyst and is responsible for helping transform data into actionable insights that empower our internal customers to make smart business decisions.

Key responsibilities:

Design, develop, and deploy reports and dashboards in Tableau using advanced features such as parameters, LOD calculations, worksheet and dashboard actions; blending and joining data from multiple data sets to create comprehensive solutions.
Collaborate with Senior Dashboard Analyst, business stakeholders, data architect, data engineers, and other functional and technical staff to translate requirements into long-term BI solutions.
Provide data visualization support on decisions and priorities regarding the City’s overall Tableau development and administration. Assist with the application and enforcement of data standards and guidelines that drive the design of data solutions.
Support the development and implementation of analytic templates and components that can be deployed across multiple environments. Assist in assessing data quality and integrity on reports within analytical products and work with appropriate departments on problem resolution.
Provide end user support for delivered solutions, including training, troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An
equivalent combination
to:

A Bachelor’s degree in analytics, information technology or a related field

AND

At least three years’ work experience in data visualization using Tableau, Power BI, or other leading data visualization software.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (TRAINING AND EDUCATION):

Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Data Analyst Certification
Experience with SAP HANA Live Views, Snowflake, and/or FME

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Depending upon assignment a WA driver’s license may be required.
Individuals may have to pass a background check depending upon assignment

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

The successful candidate will possess the following skillset:

Advanced knowledge of and experience with data visualization, dashboard design, and development in analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, MicroStrategy, etc.
Knowledge of RDMS systems and data lakes such as Snowflake, MS SQL, Oracle, AWS online, etc.
Understanding of relational databases and SQL programming language
Knowledge of ETL (extract, transform, load) methodologies and tools, and FME knowledge a plus
Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and security role designs
Ability to address query performance and tuning issues
Skills in requirements gathering, analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting
Good interpersonal skills for working with team members as well as our customers with the capacity to listen to customer needs and respond accordingly
Excellent organization and planning skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
