Role Summary
The Managing Director, Aircraft Supply Chain Operations & Material Management sets the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of engine and component maintenance and materials management ensure they meet quality requirements set by the Alaska Airlines, while maintaining a cost-effective strategy. This senior leadership role directs maintenance services for Alaska Airlines (AS) to ensure the highest quality standards as well as maintains Alaska’s fleet strategy for both owned and leased assets.
Key Duties
Establish strategic goals and direction for the engine, component and material management teams.
Engine and Component Maintenance
Oversee the selection and management of material, component and engine vendors and drive for successful negotiations of agreements that secure favorable terms.
Manage maintenance warranty claims to maximize warranties received.
Material Management
Direct the stores and distribution departments in support of the airline operation including establishment of budgets, material distribution strategy and contracting philosophy in alignment with required business outcomes.
Manage material warehousing operations and facility design.
Develop policies and procedures to establish optimum inventory levels, effective station allocation of aircraft parts, efficient re-order points for expendable material, and establish adequate management controls to secure and maintain the proper inventory levels.
Define Technology strategy and resources for the M&E team
Manage cross functional investment strategies for system improvements.
Lead management system improvement initiatives through process improvement, skill enhancement and tool development.
Influence across company strategies and provides strategic recommendations to enterprise leaders.
Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and functions.
Influence company culture through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
A minimum of 10 years of experience in one or a combination of the following:
Complex supply chain management,
Repairing airplane engines or components,
Maintaining aircraft in the same category and class as Alaska Airlines uses or,
Maintaining large airplanes with 50 or more passenger seats.
A minimum of 7 years of people leadership experience, preferably in airline operations.
Bachelor’s degree, or willingness to attain a Bachelor’s degree within six years of start date.
Strong interpersonal skills facilitating effective verbal and written communication at all levels in the organization.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
