Share the love of your Pet with others! Do you have a wonderful pet that has been certified through an accredited pet therapy school? Are you caring and compassionate? Do you have a passion for helping others? Then we would love to have you both as hospice volunteers! Certified Pet Therapy Volunteers are needed to bring smiles on the faces of our patients. Legacy Hospice provides patient care in and around Albemarle, Nelson, Fluvanna, Greene, Madison, Buckingham, Louisa, and Orange Counties.
Responsibilities:
Pet Therapy Volunteers are a wonderful way to share comfort and compassion through interactions with Certified Therapy Pets and Hospice Patients. A visit from a therapy animal can bring an immense amount of joy, emotional support, and fulfillment to a hospice patient and their family members. Pet therapy has been proven to decrease pain and stress. No hospice experience necessary but animal must be a certified and up to date on all vaccinations.

Qualifications:
Understanding and supportive of hospice philosophy.
Compassionate person who is accepting and respectful of people’s differences.
Proof of Pet Therapy Certification & updated vaccinations.
Must be a licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working order.
The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to pass background check requirements.
CMS requires that all patient-facing staff, as well as those that are in contact with patient-facing staff, be fully vaccinated, or have a documented religious or medical exemption. This important rule is required for all healthcare organizations that receive federal funds through Medicare or Medicaid.
