Job Title: Prevention Specialist – Community Services

SUMMARY
Assist with coordination of sexual violence prevention and education programming through working with community-based coalitions. Provide crisis intervention services for survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

JOB OBJECTIVES

Prevention

Assist in development and implementation of a community sexual violence prevention plan.
Engage new and enhance existing community partners and residents in coalition activities and planning.
Provide educational presentations to community members.
Assist in organizing community meetings and events.
Facilitate coalition meetings, develop agendas, maintain meeting minutes, create planning materials, and conduct follow-up activities.
Assist with volunteer recruitment and supervision during program activities.
Represent MOCSA at community events and meetings.
Assist with program development, evaluation, data collection, and grant reporting.

Crisis Intervention

Provide crisis intervention, support, and referrals to survivors of sexual abuse and assault in the course of outreach activities.

The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in public health, social work or other human services field and one year of professional experience or a combined equivalent of education and experience in community outreach and organizing or coalition building. Demonstrated skills and experience in public speaking. Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of community partners.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous training in sexual abuse or sexual assault. Experience in public health, crisis intervention, or program development. Experience with needs assessments and planning, social media/marketing, or audio-visual technology. Fluency in Spanish.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL
Frequent travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform outreach and engagement duties.

BENEFITS
Full time benefits include 15 days of vacation, 16 paid holidays, 12 sick days, birthday holiday, winter break, 89% employer covered health insurance, 100% employer paid dental, life, and long-term disability Insurance, and 2% 403(b) match. The salary range for this position is $40,000 – $48,000 depending on experience, education and other qualifications.
