Position : Psychiatric Technician
Description :
PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Psychiatric Technician to work day shift Monday-Friday (10 AM- 6:30 PM) in the medical department at the Berks County Prison. In this role the Psychiatric Technician will serve as the mental health liaison between the medical unit and facility staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor Patients physical and emotional well-being and report unusual behavior or physical ailments to the mental health and medical staff.
Observe and influence patients behavior, communicating and interacting with them, and teaching and counseling them.
Running Psycho-Educational groups.
Develop and teach strategies to promote client wellness and independence.
Milieu Therapy
Collaborate with and assist Psychiatrist, Psychologist, and Mental Health Clinicians working with mentally ill, emotionally disturbed, or developmentally disabled patients in order to treat, rehabilitate, and return patients to the community.
Conducting wellness checks and follow-ups
Interview new patients to complete admission forms in order to assess their mental health status and to obtain their mental health and treatment history.
Encourage patients to develop work skills and participate in social, recreational, and other therapeutic activities that enhance interpersonal skills and develop social relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA degree in psychology or closely related mental health field.
Experience working with emotionally disturbed, mentally ill, or developmentally disabled patients is a plus.
Experience working in a correctional facility a plus.
Strong Interpersonal and Observational skills
