Position : Shelter Support Staff Overnight
The Shelter Support Overnight Staff at Homeless Solutions, Inc. is responsible for providing client services to assist in the safe and effective operation of our Shelter facilities. This role is an on-site,hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Residential Support Staff Division Manager. This full time role will require overnight hours either 11pm – 7am, or 12pm – 8am, Sunday through Thursday each week and will provide the opportunity to gain valuable social services and direct care skillsets while assisting our clients in moving toward a place of safe and appropriate permanent housing.Duties and Responsibilities will include working with Case Management Staff to understand the individual needs and services for shelter clients to best facilitate their success in our programs, as well as:
Daily census/attendance sheets
Communication log and Daily Flow report
Provide physical and client related tasks which include:
Enforce basic hygiene.
Conduct searches for contraband.
Conduct Drug & Alcohol testing and reporting.
Oversight of medication distribution according to established procedures:
Client prescription review to identify controlled substances, medical marijuana, etc.
Create medication log sheets and secure medication in appropriate locked storage
Perform, document and report medication counts (does not included administration of any medication)
Performed regularly scheduled security checks
Conduct wellness checks on staff and guests entering the facilities.
Monitor approved smoking area.
Monitor rooms/common area nightly for cleanliness.
Assign chores and supervise completion.
Provide guest transportation.
Perform regular basic cleaning protocols to facilitate a healthy physical environment.
Other responsibilities include:
Assist Volunteers and the Volunteer Manager at meal times and/or prepare meals when necessary.
Cross train with other Residential Support Staff to provide coverage when needed.
Provide clerical assistance for programs in support of case management staff as requested
Contact police, fire and rescue personnel in an emergency.
Participate in staff meetings and in service training.
Exhibit strong personal accountability and awareness of and adherence to company standards, policies, procedures and processes in all aspects of employment with HSI.
Clearly communicate issues, concerns or recommendations regarding clients or operational issues to the Staff and Management.
Respond professionally to the need for flexibility in response to organizational changes.
High School Diploma
Preferred one year social services or healthcare environment work experience.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Valid driver’s license
Good oral, written and basic computer skills
Clean driving record and subject to satisfactory background checks
Regular and predictable attendance and reliable transportation are required during the scheduled hours for this position.
Physically capable of lifting and carrying supplies, up to 30 pounds
Ability to occasionally move about inside the residential housing facility, including navigating stairs and ramps. Ability to perform the responsibilities of this role on site at all HSI facilities.
Clarity of vision at close and long range.
Mental Health Care and/or Administrative experience is a plus
Experience working in a shared living environment and EMT/CMA certification is a plus.
